“The body is a temple. Maintenance required.” In corporate lingo, this is our mantra at New Planet Yoga.

But the power of the word mantra is little understood in our society. Big business has taken a process that requires great faith, dedication, concentration and focussed repetition and has turned it into a dry concept. Very clever, but meaningless banter when it comes to understanding what a mantra truly is, how it works, and the powerful effects it can elicit.

A mantra consists of primeval, eternal sounds, the vibrations of which affect different parts of the body, mind and psyche. Ma means mind and tra means to cross over. What is defined and implied is indeed experienced in the repetition of ancient Sanskrit sounds, letters and words. These sounds are primordial and eternal and, when practiced correctly, their vibrations move through the physical and astral (energetic) bodies with great force to culminate in various effects.

Mantras should be learned only from yoga and spiritual teachers. They should not be something with which to be experimented; they are as special and as specific as the individual who chants them.

At New Planet Yoga we provide you with the necessary instruction to further your spiritual life and to fulfill your interest in the dynamism of mantra. Insight is ours for the asking.
